Patient's Friends Society - Jerusalem (PFS) is a Palestinian non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1980 by Palestinian academics and health professionals. Our work is unique and we are an independant institution, without affiliation to any other organization with a similar name. The Society is a registered non-profit charity located within Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives, Jerusalem.

We are dedicated to providing public health services for Palestinian women through health education and counseling, early detection of disease through affordable health screening examinations, and by conducting research.

Community Outreach

  • Community health education has been one of our major outreach activities since 1992. We teach women ranging in age from 14 to 80 years. The topics we address include breast disease, sexually transmitted infections, osteoporosis and the midlife woman. The lectures are given all over the country in schools, clubs, universities and community centers.

    • We publish educational leaflets and posters that we distribute at health education sessions, in clinics, at workshops and conferences.

    • We provide health education services for women with breast cancer.
Going Public: In September 2004 PFS contracted with a local radio station that reaches the whole country to air three times a day, breast screening recommendations and the hotline phone number. In addition, this information is also broadcast in local TV stations. TV
