Selected participation in 2002 to 2006:

• On the 30th of November 2006 was the final event of Project COPE (2000 - 2006), a collaborative effort of Palestinian and Israeli partners promoting joint activities among Israeli and Palestinian breast cancer survivors. The conference for health professionals and breast cancer activists was entiteled "Breast Cancer Survivorship: Medical Care and Quality of Life".

• In July Carol El-Jabari attended the UICC (International Union against Cancer) / ACS (American Cancer Society) conference in Washington, D.C. She presented three papers: "Overcoming barriers in cancer supportive care in Palestine", "An evaluation of an empowerment & building bridges project between Palestinian and Israeli women living with breast cancer" and "Israeli and Palestinian women coping with breast cancer - an assessment of experiences".

  

  Additionally she received the International Achievement Award from the ACS on behalf of PFS-Jerusalem. (Congress Newsletter, page 3)

• In June 2005 the "13th Reach to Recovery International Conference" took place in Athens, Greece. Reach to Recovery (RR) is a UICC (International Union against Cancer) program and is the only global patient support program dedicated to breast cancer. Two volunteers from the Sunrise group and the coordinator of the program attended the conference.

• In February 2004 Carol El-Jabari participated in a two-day palliative care workshop held in Cyprus under the auspices of MECC.

• In November 2004 Carol El-Jabari presented at the "UICC World Conference for Cancer Organizations" in Dublin, Ireland. She was the key speaker for a workshop entitled "Cancer Patient Support Groups in Palestine and Jordan".

• In May 2003 PFS organized lectures on Colorectal Cancer Management for surgeons in cooperation with Al-Makassed Hospital, Jerusalem. Guest speakers were surgeons from a local university hospital.

• In 2002 Carol El-Jabari presented a paper in Spain about “ Palestinian women’s health”. It was a Salut I Familia project supported by Barcelona Municipality.
